Montage Projects

Reflection

For this montage, I utilized various different techniques in order to come up with the final design of this image. I first got the idea to show the power and speed of a sports car and also of a motorcycle. I tried to make the car the center of the picture so that it could be the focus point. Behind the car, I out several pictures together in order to show the speed and amazing power of the car. I used an explosion so that it gave the picture and action sort of feel. Also, I made use of a space shuttle taking off, which was meant to show the power and speed of the car. I also included the sports bike in the back of the car, which was meant to show that it also contains some power and speed. Lastly, I used various pictured of stars behind the layer of the car in order to give it more of a design.
As for the techniques used, I mainly used various types of color adjustments, layer properties, and various types of blurs as well. At first, the color of the car was orange, so I changed the color through the Hue/Saturation adjustments. I also changed the color of the motorcycle from red to green. I wanted to make the rocket ship sort of blend in with the background while still giving the sports car a nice effect. As with the stars, I used different blending options so that they would go well with the background. In all, the aim for this montage was to give the car a feeling of action, while giving it some meaning through different pictures and effects.

Tutorial #44

Tutorial #44
In this tutorial, I was told to make the effect of rain on a picture. What I learned from this tutorial was that you can apply a rain effect to any picture you want. All you have to do is apply a grain on another layer, and then you have to add motion blur, which ultimately gives it the rain effect that looks real. After that, you have to make the layer settings to Screen so that the black color goes into the background and the white produces the rain effect.

Tutorial #7

In this tutorial, I used the effect to make a regular picture into one that looks like it has been hand drawn. With this tutorial, I learned how to make any picture look like it has been hand drawn, and also learned about Threshold, a tool that I did not know about. With Threshold, I learned that you can change the color effects of a picture. For example, before applying some Threshold to this picture, it was to dark to tell what was going on on the picture, but now that you apply Threshold to this picture, you can adjust the colors to make some more visible. Maybe I'll be able to use this technique later on to make another picture look like it has been hand drawn.

Tutorial #107

Tutorial #107
In this tutorial, I was asked to make a feather. What I mostly learned from this tutorial was that you could add some effect to a normal picture by giving it some wind effect. What I did was that I used the pen tool to create the basic shape of the side of a feather. Then, after applying some wind to it, I basicly copied that layer and then flipped it so that it matched the other side. I put a line on the middle so that it looked like an actual feather. As an added bonus, I also put an effect that made it looked like it was actually writing. I think that I might be able to use the wind effect on other projects later on.

Tutorial #20

Tutorial #20
For this tutorial, I needed to design a video game controller. I learned a lot of different techniques with this tutorial. For example, I learned abou adding things such as a color gradiant, how to make normal, dull circles actually appear to pop-up by applying some bevel and emboss, and also other things such as adding outer glow and adding shapes. What I enjoyed the most from this tutorial was that I could make it look to what I wanted it to. For example, I added a radiation symbol for some design to add to the controller. I learned many different techniques that I will be able to use later on.

Tutorial #31

Tutorial #31
For this tutorial, I learned how to make clouds. With this, i learned the technique of using blur effects to make it look like there are clouds. I can think of many ways that i can use this to my advantage. Some of the techniques I learned with this tutorial were that you can use the gaussian blur to feather edges off of something painted. Also, I learned more about the pen tool, which I used to make the green slope and the shapes of the clouds. What I also did with this picture, I added some bevel and emboss to the slope in order to give it some depth. I also made use of both the burn tool and the dodge tool to put in some shading effects on the slope and the clouds.

Tutorial #4
In this tutorial, I learned how to design a CD. For this tutorial, I utilized a picture of a video game and typed in some text to give the CD it's front cover. With the picture of the video game, I used the Elliptical Marquee Tool to give the photo a round shape. In this tutorial, I learned more about the elliptical marquee tool and how I can make it work to my likings. I learned how to add a drop shadow to make it look more realistic. And also, I put in some text along with a soft outer glow to give it more of a visual.

Tutorial #29

Tutorial #29

In this tutorial, I learned many different techniques in photoshop. For one, I learned that it is very simple to remove objects that are unwanted. For example in this picture, I removed the body of the elephant and moved the elephant's head over a gorillas head. I also got to use the free transform tool, which learned that you can adjust items to your liking. What I also did for this tutorial, I used the burn tool to apply some shading to the elephant head to make it look more realistic. Also, I used the dodge tool to apply some more lighting.

Computer Art: First Impressions

I believe that Computer art will be about using editing programs to edit and create different types of digital art. One of these programs i hope to use is Photoshop. Even though I already have some experience with this photo-editing program, I want to continue using it to learn different techniques in wish I can apply to not just one photo, but to more. My first impressions are that at first, we will work with beginner materials, and then we will soon be doing more advanced photoshop editing. I hope to learn techniques that will be useful in general, such as in color settings, hue and contrast, etc. We will see at the end of the course is these first impressions came true or not, and maybe, this class will help me be a little more creative.
